In the name of Allah the most merciful the most gracious; all thanks to Allah the lord of the heavens and Earth and peace be upon Mohamed (saw) and his companions,

The parting of the month of Ramadan is indeed on of the hardest things on the Muslim soul. “The eyes will tear and the heart will mourn and O Ramadan for your parting we are sad” ; and if it wasn’t for the fact that Ramadan will reoccur next year Muslims hearts would have cracked, but the fact that it is returning is a rejoice for Muslims Insha’Allah. However the two most painful things in the parting of this month are:

First; The saddens of parting those godly blessing that only occur during Ramadan, like the serious intention for prayer and the return to Allah with such devotion rarely seen in months other than Ramadan,.

Second: the fear of rejection of all the worship and devotion to Allah. They (Muslims) hope that Allah will accept their humble act of worship in return for all the blessing he blessed upon them. I hear their thoughts repeating.

“Salam from the Merciful with all sadness***on the best month that has passed

Salam on the month of fasting*** safety from the Merciful like no other

For if your days have died*** the sadness in my heart shall not”

Let us pause and observe as we are bidding farewell to this blessed month. May Allah make it for you and me a reserve in our good deeds for he is the all Hearing the Close.

Remember brother that our good predecessors (may Allah bless them) have made all their months like Ramadan; this meaning that Ramadan’s arrival did not make them increase their devotion nor did its departure make them decrease their devotion. So shall we make our entire year Ramadan?? For if you knew the good in Ramadan you would’ve wished that all your days were Ramadan. And remember that during this month we got used to a lot of good and refrained from all evil; do you see? So are we going to continue doing what we got used to during Ramadan like attending prayers in the masjid especially Fajr or are we going to go back to our old habits? Allah (SWT) said in Surah Muhammad (47) Ayah 17 “And those who are guided - He increases them in guidance and gives them their righteousness.

And you who have found Allah during Ramadan remember that Allah is also the God of Rajab and Shaaban (the months before Ramadan). Also whoever worships Ramadan; Ramadan has left, and whoever worships Allah; Allah is ever lasting.

And remember that you have promised Allah during Ramadan on commitment to good deeds and abandoning bad ones; Allah said in Surah Tawbah(9) Ayah 75-77 “And among them are those who made a covenant with Allah , [saying], "If He should give us from His bounty, we will surely spend in charity, and we will surely be among the righteous.(75) But when he gave them from His bounty, they were stingy with it and turned away while they refused.(76) So He penalized them with hypocrisy in their hearts until the Day they will meet Him - because they failed Allah in what they promised Him and because they [habitually] used to lie.(77)

And In Surah Saf (61) Ayah 2-3 O you who have believed, why do you say what you do not do? (2) Great is hatred in the sight of Allah that you say what you do not do. (3)

And in Surah Ashuraa (41) Ayah 25 “And it is He who accepts repentance from his servants and pardons misdeeds, and He knows what you do.

Remember that if the month of Ramadan was a chance for worship and getting closer to Allah (SWT) then that chance is still here and has not faded yet.

And if fasting was one of the key characteristics of this month; fasting still exists and will still be beloved in the rest of the months. In fact there is some fasting that compliments the fasting of Ramadan. The Imam Muslim narrated in his true book of hadith that Abu Ayub (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Prophet (SAW) said He who observed the fast of Ramadan and then followed it with six (fasts) of Shawwal. It would be as if he fasted perpetually.”

And where are you from fasting every Monday and Thursday; and fasting three days of every month, etc…

It’s true that Tarawih and Tahajod have gone with Ramadan; however the continuity of prayer is a bond between Allah and his slave that doesn’t break with the end of a month. And with every prostration you make Allah will raise you a grade and drop a sin. And night prayer is the symbol of Mutaqin; Allah said in Surah Isra’a (17) Ayah 79 “And from [part of] the night, pray with it as additional [worship] for you; it is expected that your Lord will resurrect you to a praised station. And this is absolute; it is not specific for Ramadan or any other month. And do not forget the rest of Sunnah prayers.

And if Dua’a has increased in Ramadan; Allah accepts Dua’a anywhere and anytime. Allah said in Surah Ghafir (40) Ayah 60 “And your Lord says, "Call upon Me; I will respond to you." Indeed, those who disdain My worship will enter Hell [rendered] contemptible. It was narrated by Al Tirmizi that Abu Imama Al Bahili (may Allah be pleased with him) said: that it was said O’Prophet of Allah which of the Dua’a is most answered? The Prophet (SAW) replied “(at) The heart of the end of night and the middle of the commanded prayers”

Zakat is also a commandment that is not related to Ramadan but is rather related to a yearly cycle. Therefor whenever a year passes on an amount of money that has reached Zakat level, Zakat is required to be paid whether it was during Ramadan or another month.

And Sadaga (charity) stops Sins and grows the wealth indefinitely “Not a day passes until two Angels descend and one of them says O’ Allah give a charitable person money to follow his charity ; and the other says give a holder (of wealth) misery” So do not limit sadaga (charity) to Ramadan and forego the charter the rest of the year.

Whenever we were serious in our devotion he (Allah) has made it easier for us and opened up the doors of good so we can be Insha’Allah from the people Allah mentioned in Surah al Ahgaf (46) Ayah (16) “Those are the ones from whom We will accept the best of what they did and overlook their misdeeds, [their being] among the companions of Paradise. [That is] the promise of truth which they had been promised.

O gathering of Muslims:

It was narrated by Talha son of Obeid Allah, that whenever the Prophet (SAW) saw the crescent he said “O Allah bring it to us with harmony and faith and with peace and Islam, my Lord and yours is Allah

May Allah bless you and I with the Qur’an and following of the Prophet. I ask Allah to forgive you and I; and the rest of the Muslims.
