All praise is to Allah. We depend on him. We ask him for guidance and we thank him. We seek refuge in Allah from the sins of ourselves and the evils of our works. Whoever God guides, nobody shall misguide. And whoever God misguides there is no guide for them. And I bear witness that there is nobody worthy of worship except Allah Almighty alone, who Has no partner. To him is ownership and praise. He brings life. He brings death and he is omnipotent, all powerful. And I bear witness that our master, our beloved, our leader and the apple of our eyes, Mohammad, is God’s servant, messenger, friend and beloved. May the peace and blessings of God be upon him, his pure family, his companions and all of those who follow their way until the Day of Judgment. May God be pleased with us and them.

Servants of God, I advise you and myself to be God-conscious, and know that Allah Almighty said in the sealed revelation to the beloved Mohammad, pbuh, “Say: O Allah, Master of the Kingdom! You give the ownership to whomsoever you please and take away the ownership from whomsoever you please, and you exalt whom you please and take away from whom you please. In your hand is the good; surely, you have power over all things” (03:26). The Son of Abbas, may God be pleased with them both, narrated that the Prophet, pbuh, said: “If you ask, ask only Allah, and if you depend, then depend only on Allah, and know that if all people got together to benefit you with something they will not benefit you with anything except that which God has written for you. And if all people got together to harm you, they will not succeed except in something that Allah has written for you. Pens are withdrawn. The ink on the scripts have dried up.” Narrated by Attarmathi.

This sound Hadith works to establish the idea of faith in Fate and Destiny. Allah Almighty says: “No affliction comes about without Allah's permission; and whoever believes in Allah, He guides his heart; and Allah knows all things.”(64:11) ‘Alqama said: “If a calamity should afflict anybody, then they should know it’s from God and therefore they accept and submit. Whoever approves of God’s will, God approves of them. Accepting the will of God is the paradise of this earth, the source of comfort for His servant.” Faith in Fate and Destiny is conditional on four essential components that are not connected together. These things are: knowledge, the written script, will and creation. In regards to knowledge, it is the belief in Allah Almighty, who is knowledgeable of all things, in general and in specifics, now and forever. He knows about what exists and what does not, the possible and impossible. A small atom in the heavens and earth is not exempt from His knowledge. “He is Allah besides Whom there is no god; the Knower of the unseen and the seen; He is the Beneficent, the Merciful” (59:22).

In regards t the second pillar of faith in this matter, the written script, it is defined as the faith that God has written what will happen with his creation to the Day of Judgment, predestination. So all what was and what will be is written in the “Protected Board” in the Mother of all Books. Abduallah Bin Amro Bin Alas, may God be pleased with them both, said: “I heard the Messenger of God, pbuh, say: ‘God has written the fates of his creation before the creation of the heavens and the earth by 50,000 years.’” The third pillar of Fate and Destiny is will. This is the faith in God’s will and complete omnipotence. Whatever Allah wills will be and whatever Allah doesn’t will never will be. No event, small or big, can occur in the universe except by the will of Allah. Allah Almighty says: “And your Lord creates and chooses whom He pleases” (28:68). Allah Almighty also says: “And you do not please except that which Allah pleases, the Lord of the worlds.” (81:29) The fourth pillar is creation. This pillar talks about how all creation is owned by Allah. This idea talks about how all except Allah has been created from nothing. Allah Almighty says: “Allah is creator of all things” (39:62). Huthaifa, may God be pleased with him, said: “The Messenger of God, pbuh, said: ‘Allah creates all manufacturers and whatever is manufactured.’” Narrated by AlBokhari.

A servant cannot leave what God has destined for him/her. If the servant approves with what Allah has written for him/her, he lives a good and grateful life, otherwise, destiny runs over him/her while he/she is left to be miserable and damned. This acceptance can explain one who has a calm heart and comfort of the soul. A believer receives pain and calamity with an accepting self, reassured and a strange calmness. Believing in fate and destiny is good at calming nerves more than any other remedy. Calmness is one of God’s gifts, not from other human beings. It is the reassurance and security that God bestows upon the heart of a believer, especially during traumatic times, such as events death and other situations worthy of worry.

O Muslims, believing in Fate and Destiny is one of Article of Faith and is the fundamental source of excellence, as narrated by one of the greatest Hadiths in Islam, which is narrated by Muslim, who narrates that Omar Bin AlKhtab, May God be pleased him, had said that the Archangel Gabriel, pbuh, had asked the Messenger, pbuh, about faith. The Prophet, pbuh, answered: “To believe in Allah, His Angels, His Books, His Messengers and the Last Day, and to believe in the Fate and Destiny, the good of it and the bad of it” Gabrielle said, “You had told the truth.” Destiny is that which Allah has ordained for all creation according to His wisdom. O Believers, destiny is matter know to Allah only. Allah Almighty says: “…and the command of Allah is a decree that is made absolute” (33:38). Allah Almighty also says: “Surely We have created everything according to a measure. And Our command is but one, as the twinkling of an eye” (54:49-50). Allah Almighty says: “And there is not a thing but with Us are the treasures of it, and We do not send it down but in a known measure” (15:21).

Therefore, you will find that a true believer is patient with what has been written for him/her, enduring hardships and pains. On the other hand, you have those who have weak faith that cannot endure these hardships and is not patient, so they resort to the most pathetic reasons and methods. For example, one’s hardships may lead him/her to depression and escapism, such as drugs, intoxicants and in extreme cases suicide. However, if one believes in Fate and Destiny, then one will have benefit of doubt in Allah and depend on Him. Allah Almighty does not ordain anything except that here is justice, mercy, wisdom, goodness in it. Reflection on this matter can reveal certain wisdoms of God, in the good and bad matters. Allah Almighty says: “…and it may be that you dislike a thing while it is good for you, and it may be that you love a thing while it is evil for you, and Allah knows, while you do not know” (2:216).

The servant must accept everything that God Almighty has ordained, to be patience and submit. Allah Almighty has hidden the Fate from His servants, and has commanded that they do not ask about it. Allah Almighty says: “He cannot be questioned concerning what He does and they shall be questioned” (21:23). Please know brothers and sisters, that God’s judgments are three types. The first are obligations that God commandes and loves. The second are the Nawafil, or recommended deeds, which God loves but does not command and third are prohibitions that God does not love and does not command. Allah Almighty has predestined the good deed, the bad deed, the blessing and the hardship. If God has a good deed as part of your destiny, then receive it with praise, thanks and sincerity so that God can grant you success. If God has a bad deed as part of your destiny, then receive it with repentance and seeking forgiveness so that God may grant you love and forgiveness. . If God has a blessing as part of your destiny, then receive it with thanks and giving charity so that God may grant you more. Finally, if God has a hardship as part of your destiny, then receive it with patience and acceptance, so that God may grant you reward in the hereafter. The happy is he/she who accepts the destiny and fate given to them. The miserable is he/she who rejects the destiny and fate that has been given to them. We ask Allah Almighty for a good believing end, which can lead to eternal happiness. We ask Allah almighty to keep away a miserable disbelieving end which will lead to eternal misery.

I say these words and I seek refuge in Allah Almighty for me, for you, for my parents and all of the Muslims. O those who ask for forgiveness, ask for forgiveness now.
